Trinidad and Tobago: launch of a new phase in the Aranguez Flyover project at the Churchill Roosevelt Highway

Following the construction and delivery of the Churchill Roosevelt/Uriah Butler highway interchange, which entered into service in May 2009, VINCI Construction Grands Projets is maintaining its presence in Trinidad and Tobago with a mandate to design and build the Aranguez Flyover (52.6 m long and 17.4 m wide), which will cross over the Churchill Roosevelt Highway.

On April 21, 2010, the two main 50-tonne beam sections, which will form part of the steel frame, arrived on site. This stage marks the end of the first phase of construction of the north access ramp begun five months earlier along with network rerouting, site clearance, 15-metre deep auger drilling for 768 piles, installation of 300 mē of reinforced earth walls, and construction of 40 metres of drains and 115 metres of drainage network structures.

In the next phase, starting in July, the steel structure will be placed by launching technique using a self-propelled modular transporter, as Cometto type.

One of the goals during the construction of the Flyover is to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway to and from the capital Port of Spain.
